The Rumoured BlackBerry Twitter client is finally here and I must say it is a nice start. After using the application for a day on thing I found to be annoying was the app doesn’t seem to cache any content other than you main timeline, so loading things like followers and you profile can take a minute or two. The app has the usual Direct message time line, trending topics, and followers time line and from what I saw there was no push notifications but you can set your refresh down to five minutes.
With the hundreds of Twitter clients out there it is getting hard to decipher which app will serve your needs on twitter. Twitter for BlackBerry has all the functionality you would expect from a well rounded client, things like;
- View friends timeline, mentions and direct messages
- Message list integration
- Ability to use BlackBerry Shortcuts
- Search Twitter
- Compose Tweets from menu
- Post links from Browser
I dont feel this app at its current point will serve the hardcore Twitter users due to things like lack of support for multiple clients or a master friends list for easy tweeting.
