We have seen leaks of what was rumored to be the entire BlackBerry Lineup for 2011 but the thing that was left off in that round of leaks was CDMA devices. Tonight, we have two new BlackBerry device models to go over with you and a proposed roadmap for the rollouts of these devices on the CDMA networks of Verizon and Sprint. The leaked roadmap comes to us courtesy of CrackBerry and features 5 BlackBerry smartphones and the BlackBerry PlayBook launching in Fiscal Year 2011. For more details on this roadmap and the BlackBerry devices mentioned on the map, join me after the break.
First, you’ll notice the Curve 9330 releasing in Q1 2011. That time frame was October through December of 2010 when the Curve 3G launched on both Verizon and Sprint. The next device on the map is the BlackBerry PlayBook which we know is set to launch in Q2 2011. That quarter runs until the end of March 2011, meaning we should be seeing the PlayBook launching sometime soon.
Next up is the BlackBerry Montana. The roadmap says that this device will launch in Q3 2011 and the slides below mention August 2011 as the target release date for this device. The Montana is the CDMA equivalent of the BlackBerry Dakota, which we saw leaked 2 weeks back. After the Montana we see the Monaco. The BlackBerry Monaco looks to be the replacement for the Storm series and may or may not be branded as a Storm series device. The Monaco slides target this device for a July-August 2011 release. After the Monaco we see the BlackBerry Sedona. The Sedona is the CDMA equivalent to the Apollo that we saw leaked two weeks ago. The Sedona will be the next-generation of BlackBerry Curve devices and is listed in the slides as the “First NFC BlackBerry.” The Sedona is currently slated for release in August-September of 2011. Then we see a device called the BlackBerry Malibu, a device which we had previously heard nothing of. The BlackBerry Malibu is going to be the touchscreen Curve model. This device will be at a lower price point than the Monaco and will open the BlackBerry touchscreen market up to a larger percentage of consumers.
Another exciting thing that we see along with these new BlackBerry model is more information on BlackBerry 6 Evolution. This is what we saw at DevCon Asia as BlackBerry OS 6.1. All of the rumored devices are slated to launch with BlackBerry OS 6.1 and should bring some great new features to the table. Some of these features include a digital compass, HD video, OpenGL, and WiFI Hotspot ability. You can view these features in more detail on the slides below.
The roadmap ends here with the BlackBerry Malibu but we still have even more information. The slides listed below give the full details on all of the BlackBerry devices rumored above. There’s some exciting stuff in these slides so be sure to read them all through before you decide which BlackBerry you’ll be getting in 2011. Thanks to CrackBerry for this awesome leak.
