Last week we saw images of what was being called the BlackBerry Apollo, which is going to be the next generation of the Curve devices. It seems that the Apollo codename was not correct and the new Curve is being called the Sedona. This device has no model number yet, but is called the “R010″ internally at RIM. Our friends over at N4BB have gotten ahold of a pre-production Sedona and have obtained the following specs from the device:

  • Size: The Sedona is almost half the thickness of the Bold 9700 and nearly the same width and height as the current Curve series.
  • Battery: EM1, a new and much thinner BlackBerry Battery
  • RAM: 512 MB of application memory
  • OS: BlackBerry OS 6.1
  • Screen: The screen resolution is rumored to be even higher than that of the current Bold series

There’s no word yet on when the new Sedona will be released. We hear that the device feels great in-hand and that it seems like a much higher-end device than the Curve 9300 series. There is also word of a new notification system in BlackBerry OS 6.1. The new system flashes a notification at the top of the screen but does not interrupt what you are working on. The new notification system is said to be similar to that of Android. N4BB also brings word that the build of OS 6.1 running on the Sedona is very laggy and contains many bugs, which we would expect on such an early prototype. That’s all we have for now on the BlackBerry Sedona. There are 2 more images after the break and be sure to comment and let us know what you think of the new BlackBerry Sedona.
