Telus put out the official press release for the Torch 9800 launch just a few short days ago. Near the bottom of that release was some information that most of us overlooked. At the end of this release, Telus was announcing that they would be offering carrier billing through App World very soon. The quote from the press release about App World was:

“TELUS is excited to be the first carrier in Canada to offer clients the ability to pay for their BlackBerry App WorldTM purchases on their mobile phone bill as well as through credit card payment. This ability will be available prior to the BlackBerry Torch launch.”

This is very exciting news for both Telus customers and everyone that uses a BlackBerry. Carrier billing will make App World more accessible and is a huge step in the right direction for RIM. Apps are the future of smartphones and with RIM advancing App World they are sure to stay on top. Hopefully now that one carrier is introducing carrier billing more carriers will jump onboard with it and App World will become an even more dynamic application purchasing experience.
