FCC Passes Both The 20- and 14- Key Pearl 9100 With AWS bands, Heading to T-Mobile and Wind?

The grand master of pretty much the last stop for a device before it goes public is of course the FCC and they have just approved the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 with AWS bands. Just over a month ago the FCC approved the WCDMA 850 / 1900 pearls but now they have granted the 9100 sporting AWS the okay into the consumers hands, T-mobile has kept quite quiet about carrying the new Pearl 3G but this gets us a little closer to a confirmation. The AWS bands in North America are used on T-mobile and Canadian carrier Wind Mobile so it shouldn’t be long before the hot new pearl makes its way into the hands of those carriers customers.

Wind Mobile To Offer Credits to Cancel Your Contract With The "Others"
9:00 am on Mar 1, 2010 | Leave a comment

If your one of the thousands of Canadians that are stuck on long 3yr contracts and are just waiting to break free to get that shiny new BlackBerry smartphone but dont want to pay those high early cancelation fees, well Wind Mobile has come to your rescue. As of today Wind will offer up to $30.00 a month for five months if you leave one of the other guys (Rogers, Bell, Telus, or their discount brands). the credits can equal up too $150.00 and now that makes that cancelation fee hurt just a little less on the wallet.
Winds CEO must understand that this is a risky move especially when people can cancel with their current contract then sign up with wind, grab the $180 from Wind and high tail it out of there. But what can Wind do they pride them self on “Contract Free” service?
though there are some grey areas surrounding this, but hopefully with will help get some more people onto BlackBerrys.

The past few months have been a long hard battle for the new Canadian cellular provider Wind. Wind, which is the operating name for Globalive has had a hard last few months because of a ruling by the CRTC saying that the company has to much foreign ownership. This new cellular provider was making claims that they would be competing with the big three Telus corp, BCE Bell mobility and Rogers communications, this is a bold statement but they have the coverage, rate plans and devices that could put them neck and neck. Wind will be carrying a few of RIM’s flagship devices the Bold 9700 and Curve 8900 with unlimited voice and data plans to go with them. As of today December 11, 2009 the Canadian Government has ruled against the CRTC and is allowing Wind to enter the canadian cellular market immediately, though i feel they are to late for busy holiday season.
