Torch 9810 top side TheBerryFix.com Review of the Torch 9810 w/ BlackBerry 7

Last September RIM came to the table with the all-new BlackBerry Torch 9800, a device that was greeted with less than stellar reviews from the tech community and consumers alike. Just under a year later RIM launched what they hoped to be a powerhouse upgrade, a new phone, a new beginning. The big question is, did the Torch 9810 live up to its hype, did RIM deliver with the new BlackBerry 7 OS and hardware accelerated graphics? Follow me after the break and find out.

Tmobile road map T Mobile road map leak shows the BlackBerry Torch 9810 coming Novemeber

If this leaked T-Mobile document holds true it looks as though AT&T maybe losing their exclusivity on the BlackBerry Torch 9810 that they’ve heled since the original Torch 9800 launched in the US. According to this document, the Torch 9810 should be making its way onto T-Mobile around November 9th, with pricing to be determined. So how many users would be looking to pick up the BlackBerry 7 powered smartphone on T-Mobile?

Over the past few weeks rumours of Telus launching the Bold 9900 and 9810 seemed quite set in stone as internal documents were floating around stating that they will launch on August 15th. But then things changed with Rogers launching the two new devices on the 9th, so Telus had to change as well. Today Telus has officially launched the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and Torch 9810, with the Torch 9860 coming in the next few weeks. Let us know if you’ve been able to snag a new BlackBerry or if you’re still waiting on your carrier.

More confirmation that the Bold 9900 and Torch2 9810 are launching August 15 on Telus

Telus Roadmap Main Image More confirmation that the Bold 9900 and Torch2 9810 are launching August 15 on Telus

Earlier we brought you news from one of our sources that Telus would be launching the Bold 9900 on August 15. BGR has just published some Telus internal documentation that confirms that date for both the Bold 9900 and the Torch2 9810. In addition to these dates, the docs have August 22 listed for the Torch 9860 and then August 29 for the updated Curve. Then we have the low-end Curve listed for an October 1st launch alongside the Bold 9790.

These dates match up with both the rumored release dates and RIM’s promise to get the new Bold Touch out before the end of Summer. As we have noted previously, RIM plans to make the BlackBerry 7 launch the largest launch in company history, so we should see multiple carriers across the US and Canada launch on this same date. You can view some closeups of the inventory system after the break .

RIM set to announce more BlackBerry 7 devices prior to BB7FanNight?

posted by Justin Lisenby at on Aug 1, 2011 | Leave a comment

Screen shot 2011 04 27 at 2.43.25 PM RIM set to announce more BlackBerry 7 devices prior to BB7FanNight?

The internet is heating up with rumors of if, when, and exactly what devices RIM will announce for BlackBerry 7 Fan Night. BB7 Fan Night is being held in Toronto on Wednesday, August 3 and all signs point to RIM announcing some new BlackBerry OS 7 powered devices for the event. The event is titled BlackBerry 7 Fan Night, not Bold 9900 Series Fan Night, so we can expect to see at least one other BB7 device announced in addition to the Bold 9900 series.

Besides the question of if RIM will announce additional BlackBerry 7 devices, people are asking when these new devices will be announced. There are really three distinct possibilities for these announcements. The first possibility would be Tuesday morning Press Releases. This would give the internet some time to digest the news and get excited before Fan Night on Wednesday. The next possibility would be Wednesday morning press releases. This would give the internet almost a whole day to get excited about the new devices before Fan Night. The third possibility is that RIM waits till the actual event on Wednesday night. They could announce the devices there and simultaneously send out Press Releases so everyone else can get a taste of the new devices.

The other question on people’s minds is what devices will RIM announce? All the available information points to RIM announcing the Torch 9810 and the Torch 9850/9860. The Bold 9900 Series will also be heavily touted since it’s the new flagship BlackBerry device. There’s always the possibility that the new Curve or the Bold 9790 could also be announced, but I wouldn’t bet on it. We’ll be keeping you up to date on all the coming developments and as soon as anything official comes out, you’ll be able to find it here at TheBerryFix.com.

BlackBerry Torch 9810 and Torch 9850/9860 show up early on BlackBerry.com

Screen Shot 2011 07 26 at 9.14.44 AM BlackBerry Torch 9810 and Torch 9850/9860 show up early on BlackBerry.com

Today looks like a great day for BlackBerry. There are awesome app updates, carrier device leaks, and maybe even some official device announcements from RIM. But besides all that, RIM has answered an oft-asked question and accidentally announced two new devices. The BlackBerry Torch 9810 and Torch 9850/9860 are now showing up in the compatible device section for some accessories on BlackBerry.com.

This appearance also ends the debate on whether the 9850/9860 would be branded as the Torch, Storm 3, or something else entirely. It looks like, as we have said many times before, the new slate-style BlackBerry will be a member of the Torch family. With RIM’s announcement about BlackBerry 7 Fan Nights coming today, we should be seeing more official confirmation and specs on those unannounced BlackBerry devices as the day rolls on.

Torch2 9810 FCC certification BlackBerry Torch2 9810 passes FCC certification

We just saw the Bold 9900 pass FCC certification last week and now we have the Torch2 9810 making it through the process as well. FCC certification is the final step before a cellular device is released to the public, so seeing the Torch2 debut in the next month or so looks like a distinct possibility. Hopefully, with the Torch2 passing theough the FCC already, we will see RIM officially acknowledge it’s existence and give us a release date.

RIM releases screen resolution chart for unreleased and unannounced 2011 BlackBerry devices

posted by Justin Lisenby at on Jun 20, 2011 | Leave a comment

blackberry 7 simulators RIM releases screen resolution chart for unreleased and unannounced 2011 BlackBerry devices

RIM has sure been bringing the (official) leaks today. First, we had the device simulators for the 9360, 9810, and 9850 earlier today. Now RIM has gone and released a screen resolution chart that outs all the details of the screens on all the 2011 BlackBerry smartphones. The screen resolutions are as follows:

  • Bold Touch 9900/9930: 640 x 480 pixels
  • Torch 2 9810: 480 x 640 pixels (portrait)
  • Torch Touch 9850: 480 x 800 pixels (portrait)
  • Curve 9360: 480 x 360 pixels

It’s a surprise that RIM has released this information when 3 of those 4 devices have yet to even be announced; however, it does say some good things about where BlackBerry is heading. The fact that they are giving developers access to both the device simulators and the screen resolutions means that the developers can begin tweaking their apps so they are ready for BlackBerry 7 and these new devices when they launch. This is good for both the developers and the consumer because we will have applications that work correctly on our device when we get it in hand. Hopefully RIM will continue to give developers more and more early access so that they can get their apps ready for new device launches.

Screen shot 2011 06 20 at 2.42.03 PM BlackBerry 7 device simulators now available for the 9810, 9360 and 9850

In a surprise move, RIM has made the BlackBerry 7 device simulators for three new unreleased, and in some cases unannounced, devices. These devices include the new Torch2 9810, Curve 9360, and Torch Touch 9850. This is a big surprise considering only the 9900 has been announced and there is still no solid word on a release date for any of these upcoming BlackBerry devices. If you’re a developer ready to test for BlackBerry 7 or if you just want to get a feel for the new OS, head on over to the BlackBerry Simulator Site and download these new sims.
