The new BlackBerry OS 7 devices are due out next month and we all know what that means, discontinuation of the older models. Sprint is the first carrier to pop up on the radar with a new list of End Of Life (EOL) devices. A device goes EOL for one of two reasons, there’s a newer model coming our to replace it, like in the case of the Bold 9650 being replaced by the Bold 9930, or it’s being discontinued entirely, like the Style 9670.

On Sprint’s EOL list we have the Style going EOL in Late August or early September, the Bold 9650 going in September, and the Curve 3G tapping out in September as well. These dates are lining up perfectly with the rumored Sprint release dates we are seeing. It seems that Sprint is cutting the Style 9670 in favor of the Torch 9850 and the Bold 9650 in favor of the 9930. Both current devices are going EOL in September and the replacements should launch in August. It seems like all we have talked about this week has been OS 6.0.0.600. We have seen it become the official build for numerous devices this week and we are adding two more to that list. OS 6.0.0.600 for both the Curve 3G 9330 and Style 9670 has been officially released by the Alaskan carrier, GCI. If you’re running either of these devices you can download the OS install for either device from the link below.

MTS Mobility has just released a little treat for owners of the BlackBerry Style 9670. OS 6.0.0.415 is now officially available to download from their BlackBerry Software Update website. There’s no word on the changes that come in this OS release but with it being an official we can expect some good updates. OS 6.o.0.436 for the BlackBerry Style has been officially released by Reliance. This update is the fourth official OS release that we have seen today. If you have a Style 9670 and want to keep it up to date with the latest official OS build then this is the OS you want on your Style.

This is the time of year when news like product announcements is slow but there is always an abundance of one thing, LEAKS! This leak is OS 6.0.0.413 for the Style 9670. We just saw .409 go official for the Style yesterday and we have a higher leak today! The Style really hasn’t received that much love from us, I know that I wasn’t to impressed with the design when the leaks started to flow. But as usual I have kept an open mind and didn’t make a final decision until having a chance to use it as my daily driver. The BlackBerry Style is actually a nice addition to the BlackBerry line up, with its 5mp camera and flip design im sure there will be a market for this device to succeed. Wile using the Style I couldn’t help to notice that the camera felt like it was in the wrong location, causing me to take more photos of my finger covering the lens than anything else. With the release of the BlackBerry Style 9670 RIM made a statement that they want to take BlackBerry to places that it has not been before. The BlackBerry Style 9670 is many things that BlackBerry has never been before. A full-QWERTY keypad inside a clamshell style case. A screen nearly as big as a Torch, but in a form that, when closed, is smaller than a Curve. A dual-screen feature that allows you to view your incoming messages with the phone closed or open. RIM took a big risk with the Style 9670 and in my opinion, it was a well calculated risk that is going to pay dividends in the future of BlackBerry. The Style has only been out for a few weeks and we are already seeing an OS leak for it. I can speak firsthand on they Style, saying that it already runs very smoothly and with little to no issues.
