One of the areas that BlackBerry has been lacking in is the web browser. Other Platforms like iOS and Android have awesome, WebKit based browsers that, in the past, have blown away the BlackBerry browser. In BlackBerry OS 6, RIM added WebKit to the browser, but it still wasn’t up to speed when compared with other platforms. With the coming debut of BlackBerry 7 and the new 2011 BlackBerry Smartphones, RIM has upped the ante all around. With some updates to the web browser coupled with a faster processor, the BlackBerry 7 browser can now keep in step with the competition. The above video shows the Bold 9900 vs. An iPhone 4 in a browser battle. It’s basically a tie, which is good news. It seems RIM is finally catching up with the competition with BB7 and looking to surpass them with QNX.

After seeing the press event apple held today on the iPhone 4′s antenna issue we were in shock and ahhh, could the BlackBerry Bold 9700 really have “Antennagate”? So we decided to test a few BlackBerry smartphones. First we tested the BlackBerry Pearl Flip and it experienced no signs of signal drop, next was the Bold 9000…still nothing. We went through a few models and found no weak spot in the design of the phones. But wait Steve did the test with the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and so did we. Take a look at the video as we hold a Telus BlackBerry Bold 9700 in the “Death Grip” for over two minutes. Does anyone really experience any antenna issues on their BlackBerry? Let us know in the comments.
