AT&T has released some official updates for some of their older BlackBerry devices. The updated devices include the Bold 9000, Curve 8530, and Curve 8900. All three of these devices are receiving OS 5.0.0.1067. It’s always nice to see carriers and RIM keeping up with software updates on some of the older but still heavily used BlackBerry devices. BlackBerry Curve users haven’t been getting the OS love lately but Vodafone DE has dropped a OS for the Curve 8900. The latest OS from Vodafone DE is 5.0.0.1036 and as usual there isn’t a change log available, but hey something is better than nothing. Now remember if Vodafone DE isn’t your devices carrier you will need to remove the vendor.XML file from the OS instillation folder, details can be found in our BlackBerry School lesson here.

It seems as if it has been forever since we saw a leak for the Curve 8900. Today we have OS 5.0.0.1022 for the Curve 8900. This helps to illustrate that just because RIM is focusing on BlackBerry 6 and new devices they are still developing for the older devices and making them even better. The official updates for older BlackBerry devices have been few and far between, so when a carrier updates on of their devices the interwebZ go crazy. Today Rogers decided to update the BlackBerry Curve 8900 to OS 5.0.0.822 which is a huge upgrade from their last official OS of 4.6.1.250. So rogers customers (or those of other carriers feeling wild) grab your USB cables and load up desktop manager 6, let us know what you think of BlackBerry 6 on your 8900.

T-Mobile has released an official OS update for both the Curve 8520 and Curve 8900. The update for both BlackBerrys is the same version number, 5.0.0.822. We don’t have any information on what changes and fixes may be in this release, but with it being an official we can assume it is stable and that there will be some bug fixes. Hutchinson was on it tonight with their official BlackBerry OS releases.  First we had an official for the Bold 9700 and now we have OS 5.0.0.681 for the Curve 8900.  If you have an 8900 and are looking for an official upgrade, this would be the OS to install.

Wind Hellas has released an official OS 5.0.0.509 for the Curve 8900, Curve 8520 and Bold 9000, so if this is your carrier lets the OS 5.0 upgrading fun begin. If you are feeling adventurous and want to slap this OS on your BlackBerry even know your not with Wind then dont for get to back everything up and delete the vendor.xml file and you should be good to go.
