Well I guess the cat is out of the bag now, so I’m going to post this as well. AT&T and BlackBerry have sent us (and many others) a invite to a event in New York City for next week….but with no description on what it is. Now of course we have an inkling into what this event will entail, seeing we posted a few weeks ago that the 9800 would launch mid to late August maybe its a 9800 launch. But maybe its just that AT&T will launch the 9100…. finally. Which ever it is we will be there brining you live coverage.

BlackBerry Rocks has posted information that the Bold 9800 Slider will be releasing August 15th on AT&T. The news comes from John Albright of the BlackBerry Partners Fund.  Mr. Albright was speaking at the PaidContent Mobile Conference and mentioned that the 9800 Slider would be launching on August 15th on AT&T’s network.  Mr. Albright also commented that the 9800 has both a touchscreen and a slide-out portrait keyboard.  The 9800 should launch running BlackBerry 6, so all this information seems to fit well with both the rumors that BlackBerry 6 is coming in August and that RIM is pushing the BB6 marketing hard right now.  RIM recently launched the Twitter hashtag #BB6iscoming and has released some teaser information in the form of videos and Inside BlackBerry Blog posts.  Who’s excited about the 9800 slider?

**Update from Zach, We were given a tip that the 9800 would launch in late August. Take a look at the post if you missed it**

A replacement keyboard has gone up for sale for the 9800 Slider on TrueSupplier. We usually see replacement parts showing up online a few weeks before product launch.  With no solid word on the launch of the 9800, this comes as a good sign.  Hearing that BlackBerry 6 should launch this “summer” means that the 9800 should be out then as well.  We’ll let you know as soon as we get more solid info on the launch date.

A few weeks ago we got wind that AT&T would launch the 9800 in June, but seeing that June is almost done, we thought that the newest tip we received on the TIP line should see some light. Our tipster from AT&T says that due to the changing of the branding from Bold to Torch, that the product launch has been delayed (sounds just like the Tour gone Bold scenario) to late August. Now, as with any rumors they are just that, rumors so take them with a grain of salt until we see the device on the shelf.

There is lots of speculation today in the BlackBerry community that the Bold 9800 slider could be renamed the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  We all know about the 9800 from all the pre-release photos and videos that have shown up here and on various other sites.  Rumor has it that RIM could be creating the Torch series of devices that will be a slider series.  There is not much more information on this other than the fact that this information has been coming from a few reliable sources.  So what do y’all think of the possibility of the slider being called the Torch?  Let us know in the comments.

Crazy! thats all I can say. Im truly speechless, I’ve loved this BlackBerry since the first round of images and I love it more and more with every new video and photo. Today we saw some nice pics of the 9800 and now from the same site we have a full 16 minute video walkthrough. Now the Video takes forever to load so hang-in there, its worth the wait. Ok, I’m the first person to say that their addicted to BlackBerry and I Love all the pre-release device photos and videos but this is just crazy. Last week we were sent some amazing photos on the yet to-be announced BlackBerry Bold 9800, and today the team over at BerryTimes.cn received a batch of photos also. Im going to go out on a limb and say that this is probably the most photographed Pre-release devices we have seen in some time. **Photos Removed Per Request

Earlier this month one of BGR’s sources at RIM gave them information saying that AT&T would be the exclusive carrier in the U.S for the BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider and it would indeed be out in June of this year. Today one of our connects, who for some reason wants to go by PrincesPowerful, gave us information that also leads to a June launch with AT&T having an exclusive on the Bold 9800 Slider for 3 months. So could two different sources be wrong? Possible but not likely, so are you going to switch to AT&T just for the 9800?

As you can see in the video, there is no sure press action on the screen, so it will be a similar experience to the iPhone screen. Make sure you watch this video enough times because I’m sure its not going to stay up on YouTube much longer before RIM pulls the plug. Now the video isn’t showing too much about the device or BlackBerry 6, but what it looks like is that it’s close to production on hardware and software, also from what we can see in the video the Slider will be branded in the Bold family but other than that things like camera size and internal memory are still up in the air. I know im pretty pumped for this phone, who else is?
