Ever since the release of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 I’ve received email upon email asking me if RIM was going to ever update the Bold 9700 form factor but pack it with the higher specs that are found in the 9900. Well you’ve asked and they’ve delivered. RIM has officially announced the all new BlackBerry Bold 9790, a 1 GHz rocking, 5 MP camera packing, 8 GigaByte storage boasting BlackBerry, oh and it also has a touch screen to boot. It has been a little while since we have seen a new leak for the Bold 9700. All the previous leaks were .5XX builds and today we have OS 6.0.0.600 leaked. There’s no word on what has changed with this release so be sure to discuss your findings in TheBerryFix Forums.

RIM is set to announce their First Quarter Fiscal 2012 Results On June 16, where they should announce how well the much-anticipated BlackBerry PlayBook sold over the last month and a bit. During this announcement RIM will update their stock holders on how the company is doing providing numbers on their handset division.

Waterloo, ON – Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) will be reporting results for the first quarter of fiscal 2012 on June 16, 2011 after the close of the market. A conference call and live webcast will be held beginning at 5 pm ET, which can be accessed by dialing 1-800-814-4859 or by logging on at www.rim.com/investors/events/index.shtml. A replay of the conference call will also be available at approximately 7 pm by dialing (+1)416-640-1917 and entering passcode 4445546#. This replay will be available until midnight ET June 30, 2011.

There have been a few rumours that the PlayBook hasn’t been selling as RIM expected but those were immediately squashed by RIM and by some of the major retailers that are offering the PlayBook. I’ll be listing in during the call and I’m hoping they will bring some good news on number of PlayBook units shipped.

Here’s two more leaks in addition to the others that we have already had today. This time it’s OS 6.0.0.576 for both the Bold 9700 and Curve 3G 9300. There’s no word yet on what has changed in this OS build, so if you try it out, let us know what you find. Don’t forget to backup before upgrading.

It seems like just yesterday when we were anxiously awaiting BlackBerry 6 to leak for the Bold 9700. Now that the Bold 9700 has both official and leaked versions of BlackBerry 6, we are all waiting for OS 6.1 to leak out, if thats even possible. But in the meantime, we can still have some OS 6 leaky goodness. Today, we have OS 6.0.0.534 leaked for the Bold 9700. Looks like 9700 users are about to get some good old OS leak love as OS 6.0.0.499 is hitting the download sites as we speak. As usual there are no change logs for a leaked OS so we’re not to sure whats fixed and whats broken, so use at your own risk.

Virgin Mobile Canada users have been waiting months for an upgrade to Blackberry 6 to grace their handsets, and well today you have the option to upgrade. Bank Of America (BOA) has launched a pilot program to test NFC payments. The new system is invitation-only and uses a BlackBerry with NFC to access the “Mobile Wallet.” The program uses the Curve 8500 series, Bold 9000, 9650, 9700, or Tour 9630. To enable NFC on these devices, BOA uses a custom battery door and SD card. The program begins in the “Spring” and will continue for a few months. This looks to be a great start for NFC on the BlackBerry. It’s only a small step but it sure is nice to see this technology being tested. I personally can’t wait till we have NFC for everything and we can drop our wallets in favor of our BlackBerrys. There are more screenshots from the Mobile Wallet program after the break.

Since the BlackBerry 6 builds for all capable BlackBerry models started to leak out a few months back we have seen a pretty steady stream of leaks. This time out of the pipe comes OS 6.0.0.461 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700. There is no word on what has changed in this OS build but we would assume since it is a higher build there will be some nice changes.
