Today Thorsten Heins made clear the speculation that RIM is NOT abandoning the physical keyboard that so many of us have grown to love. During a Q & A session he said “We want the typing experience on BlackBerry to be the best in the World… both touchscreen and physical keyboard”. So unless he is just toying with us we can expect to see some type BB 10 device with a physical keyboard in the future, one with a killer keyboard by the sounds of it.

We have seen RIM’s 2011 roadmap, and while an updated curve, codenamed Sedona/Apollo, was on the list, there was no mention of the BlackBerry Orlando. N4BB leaked the first image of the BlackBerry Orlando, which is an updated Curve featuring a touchscreen. The Orlando will feature the traditional Curve keyboard with a touchscreen, much like the Bold Touch that we have seen leaked.

There’s no word on whether this will be a 2011 release but we have heard that it is an active project within RIM. This could be a project that is slated for 2012 and could possibly feature BlackBerry OS 7 if it releases at that time. It seems as if all smartphones are heading to touchscreens, so it would be logical that even the Curve line would be upgraded to feature the technology.
