Bold 9900 2 RIM says that BlackBerry services have been fully restored

Just after the second press call Co-CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie have announced that the BlackBerry service has been fully restored. Some users may be experiencing delay in sending messages and a simple batterypull could fix this issue as the device may have been disconnected from the servers for to long. So the question that’s burning in my mind is, has your service been restored? Comment below on your situation.

Follow the official updates regarding the BlackBerry service outage on the RIM website

RIM Follow the official updates regarding the BlackBerry service outage on the RIM website

While the world sits and watches RIM struggle to regain control of their bread and butter service, BIS and BES, RIM has posted an official page for both North America and the United Kingdom.

Every time we have a BlackBerry service outage (while they are normally few and far between) I like to sit there and think about how large the impact of RIMs global services are. Over 75 million users rely on BlackBerry messenger to communicate daily and when there is an outage people are lost, not knowing what to do. One thing I would like to stress is that though this can be painful RIM will have everything back up and running as soon as they possibly can, and calling into your carrier will not solve anything. So sit back, send some good old-fashioned SMS messages and keep it locked to TheBerryFix.com for updates as we go through this together, BlackBerry addicts unite!

BlackBerry services down in EMEA region – Day 2

posted by Zach Gilbert at on Oct 11, 2011 | Leave a comment

Screen Shot 2011 10 11 at 3.50.38 PM BlackBerry services down in EMEA region Day 2

*Update: RIM has acknowledged the outage and even went as far as to tell us what the issue is. Their official statement on the matter, from BlackBerry’s Facebook page, is as follows:

“The messaging and browsing delays being experienced by BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, Brazil, Chile and Argentina were caused by a core switch failure within RIM’s infrastructure. Although the system is designed to failover to a back-up switch, the failover did not function as previously tested. As a result, a large backlog of data was generated, and we are now working to clear that backlog and restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience, and we will continue to keep you informed.”

We’ll let you know when this issue is resolved and if RIM has anything else to say about the outage. *End Update*

Yesterday, BlackBerry users in the EMEA region experienced a wide-spread service outage with customers losing access to all BlackBerry services. Shortly after the outage, RIM let everyone know that the error was corrected and that service would resume shortly. It looks like things are on the fritz again today. We’ve been receiving many reports that users are once again being left in the dark without access to their email, BBM and all other BlackBerry services as another outage spreads through the region. Users are being asked not to re-broadcast any messages stating they will fix BBM and that service will be brought back to 100% as soon as RIM can find and fix the issues.

If you’ve been experiencing issues comment below, I know for my self it’s quite frustrating to rely on test messages to communicate when I’ve put so much trust on BlackBerry messenger.

BIS outage affecting North America and Europe – are you affected ?

rim logo BIS outage affecting North America and Europe are you affected ?

Update 3: Seems BIS is back up and running. It may take a little bit before all users are restored 100%.

Update 2: Seems as though BIS is still being effected, but with some users experiencing intermittent issues instead of a full-blown outage.

Update: The BIS outage has seemed to have gotten worse with users now reporting a full-blown outage. (Email, PIN, BBM, and Internet are affected)

We’ve just received word that there is a known BIS outage limiting the sending and receiving of PIN and BBM messages. According to a few Carriers, there is currently no known time of resolution for this outage, I guess we’re left in the dark….. Not the best thing to have happen after a lower than expected earnings call, but I’m sure we’ll be back up and running as soon as RIM’s engineers can get things up and corrected. Let us know in the comments if you’re experiencing an outage too.

BIS Service Has Been Restored

posted by Zach Gilbert at on Dec 23, 2009 | Leave a comment

I was tossing and turning in my sleep last night wondering if when I woke up this BlackBerry outage nightmare would be over and to my amazement it was. Many people are wondering why did it happen? RIM has released a statement on the Dec 22nd outage and blames in on BlackBerry messenger 5.0.0.55 and 5.0.0.56. There is currently a Messenger upgrade on App World, which will bring you up to 5.0.0.57. How were you effected by the outage? make sure to post in the comments.

Reserch In Motion BlackBerry outage statement.

A service interruption occurred Tuesday that affected BlackBerry customers in the Americas. Message delivery was delayed or intermittent during the service interruption. Phone service and SMS services on BlackBerry smartphones were unaffected. Root cause is currently under review, but based on preliminary analysis, it currently appears that the issue stemmed from a flaw in two recently released versions of BlackBerry Messenger (versions 5.0.0.55 and 5.0.0.56) that caused an unanticipated database issue within the BlackBerry infrastructure. RIM has taken corrective action to restore service.

Lets not let this happen again, so download the newest BlackBerry Messenger, from your device go to blackberry.com/messenger or go to App World
