Well, we aren’t entirely, sure to be honest. But signs are pointing toward a strong pickup in the sales of the BlackBerry Z10. In fact, Apple could soon start to see a loss in market share due to the launch of the all-new BlackBerry 10 operating system.
Recent announcements from BlackBerry have said that the launch of the Z10 has been the biggest in the company’s history. As well, we’ve seen third-party trade-in programs see a huge spike in device trade-ins from Apple and Samsung. As BlackBerry continues the worldwide rollout of BlackBerry 10, we will see how the market turns. Keep it locked to TheBerryFix as we cover the expanding launch of the all-new BlackBerry 10 OS and the Z10 around the world.
Mac users looking to get the latest version of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager are now able to download and update to version 188.8.131.52. The new version brings added support for the BlackBerry PlayBook and also offers support for the new BlackBerry Bold 9790 and Curve 9380. If you already have the software on your computer you should be prompted the next time you launch the software, but if you haven’t installed it yet, hit up the link below and you’ll be directed to the download page.

Looks as though RIM has hit it home with the Launch of the BlackBerry 7 smartphones as Apple, the maker of the popular iPhone, loses market share in the month of September. Apple’s share of traffic across Chitika’s ad network fell from 49% in August to 48% in September and traffic made by RIM’s BlackBerry smartphone grew 1.3% in the month of September. It’ll be interesting to see how RIM and Apple fight with the launch of the QNX powered BlackBerry smartphone hopefully around the corner.

Yesterday afternoon RIM flipped the switch on the new web based App World 3.0 brining features that Mac users have been waiting for since day one, things like actually being able to view the site.
So I sat down and decided I’d take a look and see what all the buzz was about, and I’ll say I’m actually quite impressed. Not only does it work well from Mac and Windows PC’s it lets you side-load applications onto your BlackBerry (no PlayBook support just yet) and even update/delete existing ones. So to help the BlackBerry community get an idea on how to use the new site I’ve gone ahead and filmed a video on how to use the all new App World from your desktop computer. Stay tuned for the new version to hit your BlackBerry smartphone soon.

If you’re on a Mac and want to try out the latest DM for Mac beta you can either log into your Beta Zone account or just hit the download link below for a direct download.

So I’ve been using BlackBerry and the BlackBerry OS for over 4 years, which equals over 1,460 days of BlackBerry and the BlackBerry operating system and I can say confidently that I love it more today than ever before.
First off I want to say that I am writing this whole article from the BlackBerry PlayBook running RIMs newest creation, the PlayBook Tablet OS, so why not start there. RIM has always been a company of choice, I have the Choice to load my music onto my tablet anyway I want. Whether it’s through their desktop software or just plain old drag and drop, I truly can do it the way I would like. Along with loading the music the way that suits my use case the best, I also have the choice as to uploading any media I create on my PlayBook to the location I want. If I chose YouTube I have no limitations as I have a full flash-enabled browser to upload that file the way I want and when I want, not having to wait for a Wifi connection, I can just Bluetooth tether with any capable smartphone.

Currently, Desktop Manager for Mac is only available in private beta leaving the majority of Mac users without the simple music sync option of DM. In today’s BlackBerry School lesson i’m going to walk you through adding music to your PlayBook using just your Mac and sync cable, no Desktop Manager needed. Before we get started, make sure you have your sync cable handy and follow me past the break for the lesson.

Yesterday, Apple CEO Steve Jobs took a shot at everything RIM related. He trashed our 7″ tablet, BlackBerry 6, and RIM’s ability to produce a quality product. Today Jim Balsillie has made a response to Steve’s comments. Jim says:
“For those of us who live outside of Apple’s distortion field, we know that 7″ tablets will actually be a big portion of the market and we know that Adobe Flash support actually matters to customers who want a real web experience. We also know that while Apple’s attempt to control the ecosystem and maintain a closed platform may be good for Apple, developers want more options and customers want to fully access the overwhelming majority of web sites that use Flash. We think many customers are getting tired of being told what to think by Apple. And by the way, RIM has achieved record shipments for five consecutive quarters and recently shared guidance of 13.8 – 14.4 million BlackBerry smartphones for the current quarter. Apple’s preference to compare its September-ending quarter with RIM’s August-ending quarter doesn’t tell the whole story because it doesn’t take into account that industry demand in September is typically stronger than summer months, nor does it explain why Apple only shipped 8.4 million devices in its prior quarter and whether Apple’s Q4 results were padded by unfulfilled Q3 customer demand and channel orders. As usual, whether the subject is antennas, Flash or shipments, there is more to the story and sooner or later, even people inside the distortion field will begin to resent being told half a story.”
– Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO at Research In Motion (RIM)
Thats a pretty strong response to Steve Jobs’s comments. This shows that RIM is ready to fight in the smartphone war. Things are heating up and are sure to get even hotter as RIM and Apple both bring out newer and more powerful products throughout the coming year.

After seeing the press event apple held today on the iPhone 4’s antenna issue we were in shock and ahhh, could the BlackBerry Bold 9700 really have “Antennagate”? So we decided to test a few BlackBerry smartphones. First we tested the BlackBerry Pearl Flip and it experienced no signs of signal drop, next was the Bold 9000…still nothing. We went through a few models and found no weak spot in the design of the phones. But wait Steve did the test with the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and so did we. Take a look at the video as we hold a Telus BlackBerry Bold 9700 in the “Death Grip” for over two minutes. Does anyone really experience any antenna issues on their BlackBerry? Let us know in the comments.
Today marks the day that Apple releases their revolutionary new computer the new IPad. Now I couldn’t stop laughing when Crackberry kevin posted the hilarious Mad TV sketch of the Ipad. Take a look at the video and tell me that isn’t funny.
