RIM RIM Releases Statement Regarding Company SplitYesterday, we reported on the Reuters report that RIM was considering a split and sale of the company into both a hardware and software division. Many saw this as just a rumor and many saw this as the beginning of the end of RIM. Well, RIM has released a statement regarding this report. Here’s what they had to say:

“RIM has hired advisers to help the Company examine ways to leverage the BlackBerry platform through partnerships, licensing opportunities and strategic business model alternatives. As Thorsten said on the Company’s fourth-quarter earnings call, ‘We believe the best way to drive value for our stakeholders is to execute on our plan to turn the company around.’ This remains true.”

There you have it straight from RIM. While a turn-around of the company is the plan, there’s still a chance they could look into licensing or other partnerships. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear more on this and any future strategic moves at RIM.
