RIM Co CEOs Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie being replaced by new Chariman?

Everyone knows it’s been a tough year for RIM. And it hasn’t only been a single year. BlackBerry has been declining slowly over the past two years and reached a breaking point this year. In situations of rapid corporate decline, like we are seeing at RIM, the blame must be placed and actions taken. The Co-CEO structure that RIM employs has been under fire much of this past year. Investors want Mike and Jim out, in favor of a single Chairman and CEO to run the company.

The Financial Post is reporting that this ousting may soon be a reality and RIM may hire a new Chairman to replace Lazaridis and Balsillie. The current name being mentioned as replacement is Barbara Stymiest, who is a member of RIM’s Board. There’s no word on when this replacement will happen, but most likely it will be in the coming few weeks. We’ll let you know as soon as we get official word on the status of the Chairman and CEO positions at RIM. In the mean time, what do you think? Should they let Mike and Jim stay around and try to bring the company back up, or should they be forced out and new management brought in?
