While Netflix has said they have no plans to bring their app to BlackBerry 10, they do have an Android version of their application. Some enterprising developers have gotten ahold of an older version of Netflix for Android that will side load onto BlackBerry 10 devices. You can download the app at the link below and then side load it directly onto your BlackBerry 10 device. Keep in mind that this is not an app designed for BlackBerry and it will be very buggy and laggy; however, it will stream content just fine.

AT&T has officially announced that the BlackBerry Z10 will begin selling on their network on March 22nd. The Z10 will cost $199 with a 2-year contract. If you’re looking to pick up a Z10 sight unseen, you can pre-order your device from AT&T beginning tomorrow, March 12th. Some additional good news for AT&T customers is that their version of the device won’t feature the hideous branding that the Verizon version has. AT&T will be branding their Z10’s only on the back with a small AT&T globe logo.
This launch date comes after much speculation from other media outlets that the launch date would be earlier in March. Many had pegged the 15th as the date; however, we did not post on this information because we knew that the date was slated for the end, not the middle of the month. We haven’t heard any firm dates for other US carriers, but you can expect them to either be on the 22nd or shortly after. Check out the full AT&T Press Release pas the break.

Netflix has confirmed once again, as they have many times in the past, that they have no plans to bring their service to the BlackBerry platform. They are not supporting BlackBerry OS 7, would not support the PlayBook, and they have now reiterated their stance by confirming they have “no current plans for a BlackBerry 10 app.”
BlackBerry has been in talks with all of the big name app developers and companies to bring their applications and services to BlackBerry 10. They have done a good job of bringing some big names; however, there are still a few major companies that are giving BlackBerry 10 a show of no faith. Netflix and Instagram are two of these major apps that are not available for BlackBerry 10. These, along with a few other major names, are huge holes missing in the BlackBerry 10 app lineup. BlackBerry has been sure to mention multiple times that they are continuing to work with top-tier app developers and companies and that they do not plan to stop negotiations until they have every app on BlackBerry 10 that users are asking for.

If you’re a big Instagram fan but you have a BlackBerry 10 device, which Instagram does not support, you’re in luck. An older version of Instagram has been ported to BlackBerry 10 and is now available for download. Keep in mind that this is not a BlackBerry 10 app, but rather an Android app that can be sideloaded onto your BlackBerry 10 device. The experience isn’t great and there are some definite bugs if you run Instagram on BB10, but this is a good solution if you want Instagram and don’t want to switch to iOS or Android.
You can download the Android version of Instagram to your computer using the link below and then you can load it onto your BlackBerry 10 device. Don’t say we didn’t warn you, though. There may be issues that arise when sideloading an unauthorized application onto your device.

Sprint has confirmed that they will not be offering the first BlackBerry 10 device, the Z10, on their network. While the other 3 top US-based carriers have plans to give BB10 a go sometime later this month, Sprint will not be launching it. They do, however, plan to launch the QWERTY-keyboard equipped BlackBerry Q10 later this year when it hits US shores.
There’s no explanation why they won’t offer the Z10, other than this cryptic statement from a company spokesperson, Mark Elliot: “We aren’t saying there’s anything different about our customers,” Elliott said. “We think our customers will be happy with the qwerty keyboard and touch screen on the Q10.” This could mean that Sprint feels their customer base wants a keyboard phone, or possibly, they don’t have the faith in BlackBerry 10 that other carriers seem to show. It’s most likely that they are passing on the Z10 because they are having some issues with iPhone sales numbers, and adding another touchscreen to the lineup could increase those issues.

With just a few short days till March, it only makes sense that carriers and retailers in the US would begin preparing for the coming launch of BlackBerry 10 and the Z10. Best Buy is the latest to start preparations, putting up a preview page on their website. This page has some interactive features and gives you an extremely good overview of what the Z10 has to offer. There’s no discussion of carriers, pricing, or release dates; however, having a page up is progress. Expect to see the Z10 hit US shores sometime between mid- and late March.
