Foursquare has updated their BlackBerry application to version 1.9.5 today. Foursquare has been consistently updating and improving the app and nothing but good things have been coming from the updates. The iPhone app just recently was updated to v2.0 and brought tons of new features. With the BlackBerry version at 1.9.5 we can expect 2.0 soon and tons of new features for the BlackBerry platform. Some of the major new features in this update to 1.9.5 include:
- Push Notifications – Now receive check-in notifications instantly via BlackBerry’s push notification service.
- Faster User and Venue Screens - Now foursquare loads user and venue data as it gets downloaded, allowing you to view a user profile instantly without having to wait for all the data at once.
- Improved Battery Life – With true push notifications enabled and a few additional tweaks, battery life continues to improve.
- UI Improvements for Touch – Additionally we’ve focused on the experience for BlackBerry touch users. Improving the menu system and making small changes throughout the application.
Those look like some great improvements and I can already confirm the app is faster on my BlackBerry. The touch improvements are quite helpful as well. The update will be rolling out to existing users throughout the day or you can download it now from the link below. If you have never tried Foursquare you can hit the signup link below.
