bbm mast BBM v6.0.0.111 now available for download in the Beta Zone

Today seems like a good day for BBM. First, we had RIM release the BBM Social SDK so that developers can begin integrating that new platform into their apps. Now, we have the Beta Zone release of BBM version 6.0.0.111. RIM has specifically stated that there are only bug fixes and one addition in this release. That single addition is BBM Social support. This Beta Zone update of BBM is setup for developers to use in conjunction with the BBM Social SDK to test their apps for mainstream release. Even if you’re not a developer you can still grab this update from the Beta Zone to enjoy the bug fixes RIM has provided. You can download the update or join the BlackBerry Beta Zone at the link below.

Foursquare for BlackBerry updated with AmEx deals support

Foursquare on bb torch Foursquare for BlackBerry updated with AmEx deals support

Foursquare for BlackBerry has just received a huge update bringing the official version of the app to 1.9.97. In this update, support for American Express Deals has been added. To access the deals you just have to link your Foursquare account with your American Express card. Then when you check into select retailers and use your AmEx card for payment, you can get rewards on your AmEx statement. This official service has just begun to roll out and there are currently two stores offering AmEx deals:

  • H&M: Spend $75 and get $10 back
  • Sports Authority: Spend $50 and get $20 back

Foursquare has been running a pilot program with American Express for a few months and the response has been very positive so they are rolling it out as an official program. They plan to add more merchants and keep the deals coming. If you’re a Foursquare user with an AmEx then you need to head on over and get your accounts linked up. If you’re not a Foursquare user, why not? There are tons of great deals already available and tons more in the works. You can get an account and the mobile app all for free. And if you’re not an AmEx user, well, we can understand that too.

BBM Avatar Builder updated to v1.0.1

posted by Justin Lisenby at on Jun 18, 2011 | Leave a comment

BBM Avatar Builders BBM Avatar Builder updated to v1.0.1

RIM just released the new BBM Avatar Builder into App World late last week and then promptly removed the app shortly thereafter. There was no explanation as to why the app was removed, but this matters no longer since the BBM Avatar Builder has returned to App World bearing the v1.0.1 designation. At first glance this new version looks the same as the previous version, so we can assume that the update was for bug fixes and such. If you do; however, find something new in this build, be sure to let us know in the comments. And you can head on over to the forum link below to share and compare your created BBM avatars.

Stone Escape for BlackBerry PlayBook

posted by Justin Lisenby at on Jun 18, 2011 | Leave a comment

IMG 00000072 Stone Escape for BlackBerry PlayBook

Stone Escape is a physics-based puzzler for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The goal of the game is very simple. To beat each level you just guide your stone through the maze to the exit. Actually getting the stone into the exit is where the game becomes difficult. You use the thumbstick to toss the stone through the maze. Controls using the stick are tough to master but once you have it down you won’t be able to stop playing this game.

The levels are well designed as are the graphics and physics behind the game. The goal is to get the stone to the exit as quick as possible. The faster you get the stone to the exit, the more points you’ll earn. This game is very addicting and once you beat each level you’ll want to try over and over to beat your high score. Once you finish the trial version i’ll almost guarantee you will want to purchase the full version. The trial comes with 5 fully-playable levels and is available for free. The full version currently features 20 levels with more to come for just $0.99. You can get either version in App World from the links below.

YouMail for BlackBerry v2.3.4 update brings new features

posted by Justin Lisenby at on Jun 9, 2011 | Leave a comment

youmail logo YouMail for BlackBerry v2.3.4 update brings new features

YouMail is a visual voicemail app for the BlackBerry Smartphone. Prior to the 2.3.4 update, the app ran smooth and brought great visual voicemail to the BlackBerry. With this update, YouMail is now faster, smoother, and includes some new features. The two new big features are:

  • Number Search Available In-App. It’s YouMail’s belief that once you receive a call from an unwanted number, you should never have to receive a call from that number again. In this latest update, YouMail’s Caller Search lets you quickly do a Google search right from the “menu” key, so you’ll know the real story behind any phone number you’re not familiar with.
  • One-Touch Community Greetings and Management. A new navigation bar lets you easily access greeting settings, like what greetings play for your callers, and how you want to handle “blocked” numbers. In addition, the YouMail greetings community, with tens of thousands of greetings, is just a few clicks away from within the app itself. Now, President Obama can select a greeting for his beloved Blackberry that sounds just like him without even having to record one!

Whether you’re an avid YouMail user or have never used it before, you should grab the update to v2.3.4. Visual voicemail is great for businesspersons, students, and even soccer moms. You can get YouMail in App World for Free. The free version contains ads and you can upgrade to an ad-free version starting at just $1.99. YouMail sent out a Press Release regarding the update which you can find after the break.
