So, you’ve downloaded PlayBook OS 2.0 and have this shiny new Calendar app, but you’re not sure exactly how to use it. Well, that’s why we have the BlackBerry School Lesson Series here at TheBerryFix.com. In today’s lesson, we’ll be taking a look at all the features of the Calendar in PlayBook OS 2.0. From adding appointments to viewing your weekly schedule, we’ll walk you through it all. Follow me past the break to get started.
Calendar Viewing Modes

When you open up the calendar, you’ll be presented with the view above. This is the default view for Calendar. It shows the month on the left and your schedule for the day on the right. You can tap on the days of the month on the calendar to view your schedule for that day and you can swipe left or right across the calendar to change the month. Tapping the month and day icon (it shows Feb 22 in the shot above) will return you to the current date.

On the right side you can tap on “Agenda” and it will show you an itemized agenda for the day. If you tap on the “People” tab, it shows you the contact information of anyone you may have meetings or conference calls with that day.

Tapping the second button from the top on the left-hand side of the screen will take you into the week view. In this view you can see your schedule for the week. You can also swipe left and right to move between weeks.
Setting Up Appointments

Tapping the button in the lower right-hand corner (It’s a square with a plus sign in it) will allow you to add a new appointment to your calendar. The appointment add screen is shown above. It gives you the option to choose which calendar to add it to if you have multiple calendars on your PlayBook. Then you put what the appointment is in the “Subject” box, where it will be in “Location”, and you can link up with your PlayBook contacts in the “Attendees” box. You can choose the start and end day and times and you can even set a reminder notification. Once you have all your information for the appointment entered, tap the folder with the check mark in the top right-hand corner to save the appointment to your calendar.
Changing Calendar Settings

To edit the default settings for the Calendar, swipe down from the top bezel to bring up the hidden menu. You’ll tap the settings gear to open up the settings menu.

Once you’re in the settings menu, you can change the default settings to meet your needs. This is where you change all the options like meeting reminders, the default calendar view, and even what day to begin the week on. Once you have the settings how you like them, tap the back button in the top left-hand corner to save your settings and return to the calendar.
So, there you go. After today’s BlackBerry School Lesson you should be a pro at managing your calendar on BlackBerry OS 2.0. Be sure to check out all of our BlackBerry School Lessons, which can be found HERE.
