Today’s lesson is one that I have had some questions on recently from people that I know. People are always asking why does my phone vibrate this way or why does it ring that way. Today we will walk through the sound profiles on your BlackBerry and see how to set all this up, from ringtones to custom vibrations. The full lesson starts after the break!

To get to your sound and notification profiles you click the speaker icon on the homescreen.

The Sound Profile box will pop up. Here you can select which profile you would like to use at them moment and you also have the option to edit the profiles, set sound alerts for specific contacts, and to set the Ring Tones/Alerts for the selected profile.

Here is where you select a ring tone, volume, and vibration. Depending on what profile you are changing (normal, vibrate, silent, etc.) you may want to turn vibration on or off or change the vibration style. You can click on the Try It button at the bottom of this screen and preview the notification for that profile.

To change the ring and vibration for messages click on the messages button in the sound profile screen and choose what type of message you want to edit the information for.

You can set up the tone and vibration for each type of message. You can also click on Instant Messages, Reminders, or Other to edit the sounds and vibrations for those type of notifications.

Once you have set all the options for this profile be sure to save the profile. To fully customize your sound notifications on your BlackBerry you must go through each profile and set the notifications for each one. Once you have all your profiles customized you can just click the speaker icon on the homescreen and chose what profile you want to be active at that time. Have fun customizing your ring tones and vibrations and keep it here at TheBerryFix.com for more BlackBerry School lessons and all the latest BlackBerry news.
