One of the first things that I think of when someone says BlackBerry is security. Now the device your holding, whether its a BlackBerry, iPhone or Android device, is truly only as secure as you make it. Today we’re going to give you a step-by-step tutorial on how to password protect your BlackBerry Smartphone making it the most secure smartphone on the planet. So grab a pen and paper, a cold drink and your BlackBerry and let’s get down to business. To start the lesson follow on after the break.
Step one.
Once in your home screen select the BlackBerry menu key.
Step two.
Find your options icon, most often when using the default theme it is a wrench.
Step three.
Once in the options application find the password menu.
Step four.
Select enable password protection.
Step five.
Select “set password” to set the password that you would like to use.
Step six.
Enter in the password that you would like to use to protect your BlackBerry, trying to use a combination of letters and numbers.
Step seven.
Once you have selected a password you will need to confirm the new password by entering it a second time.
Step eight.
This is an important step. Your BlackBerry is asking how many attempts you would like to have when entering your password. If you set it to ten then that means you have ten attempts at your password and at the last failed attempt your BlackBerry will wipe if self clean PERMANENTLY!!. This wipe is part of the whole BlackBerry security echo-system.
Step nine.
If you would like to be able to make a phone call while your BlackBerry is locked select yes, if not select no.
Step ten.
By selecting the back key on your BlackBerry your are requested to enter your password one more time to save the password settings, and you’re done!! Congratulations, you have passed another BlackBerry School lesson. If you would like to add device encryption then check out that lesson over here.
