This week’s lesson covers themes. With TheBerryFix.com’s first custom BlackBerry theme out this week, there is no better time than now to cover this topic. The first step is finding a theme. Themes are available from a wide variety of vendors and for a wide variety of prices. One suggestion is to check out TheBerryFix.com Superstore for a huge selection of themes. You can find many free themes and you can also find themes that go up to $15 or more. The lesson begins after the break.
Downloading and Installing Themes
Once you have decided on a theme you hit the download link.

The theme will take from a few seconds to a minute to download, depending on size. When the theme has finished downloading, you will see the activate theme screen.

You can click yes to activate that theme now or no to save it and activate it later. Wait 5 to 10 seconds after pressing the activate button and press the back button on your BlackBerry. This action returns you to the homescreen. Once the new theme is activated you will have to move your icons and folders where you want them. The icon settings are not saved when changing themes.
Switching Between Installed Themes
To switch to a new theme that you have installed already, hit the BlackBerry key on your homescreen. Then click on options.

This opens the Home Screen Preferences window.

From here you can press the BlackBerry key again and select the option “Theme Options.”

This brings up the Theme selection screen where you can choose to activate another theme that is installed on your device. To do this, just click on the theme you want to use and click Activate.

Modifying the Active Theme
To change things like the active wallpaper and default download folder, you will want to bring up the Home Screen Preferences window. This can be done by pressing the BlackBerry key on the homescreen and selecting options.

From here you can change the wallpaper, icon layout, downloads folder, and restore the theme to default. All these can be accomplished by clicking the desired button on this screen.
Deleting Themes
To delete a theme you open the homescreen layout window and press the BlackBerry key, then select theme options. You can click on the theme that you want to delete and click the delete button to remove this theme.

These are the basic operations for installing, modifying, and deleting themes. The theme window can also be accessed by going into Options and clicking Theme.
