This latest bit of information about BlackBerry 10 comes as a bit of a shock and a definite negative for the Enterprise market. Sources close to RIM are reporting that BlackBerry 10 devices will not be allowed to run on any 3rd party Mobile Device Management (MDM) Software. What does this mean? It means that even when BlackBerry 10 launches, the mass exodus of enterprise and business users may continue.
RIM has built out their own MDM system, BlackBerry Mobile Fusion. The current setup for BlackBerry 10 only allows those devices to be managed by RIM’s own servers. This means that unless a company decides to manage their entire device portfolio with Mobile Fusion, they can’t have any BlackBerry 10 Devices on their system. This is just a rumor at the moment; however, it’s being confirmed by sources close to RIM. If this turns out to be true, RIM’s main market, Enterprise, may not even adopt BlackBerry 10. So here’s to hoping RIM changes their mind on this before the launch of BlackBerry 10.
