RIM has stated multiple times that the focus for PlayBook 2.0 and the upcoming release of BlackBerry 10 is performance. They have consistently shown this through the upgrades to the PlayBook with OS 2.0 and then OS 2.1. It looks like they are keeping up with this promise of performance with BlackBerry 10 and web browsing. According to the HTML5 test, BlackBerry 10 is blazing in the web browsing department. The site lists the BlackBerry 10 Development OS as having a score of 447 plus 10 bonus points.
What does this mean? Well, let’s take a look at some comparisons. The fastest current desktop browser is Maxthon 3.3.8. It scores 437 plus 13 bonus points on the HTML5 test. The fastest current tablet browser is PlayBook OS 2.0, coming in at 373 plus 9 bonus points. And the fastest current smartphone browser is Opera Mobile 12, with 369 plus 11 bonus points. With the BlackBerry 10 browser scoring 447, that puts it ahead of every currently available browser, even those on desktops.
So what exactly can we take from this? RIM is committed to performance. From the core of the OS to the browser, and everything in between, RIM is committed to making BlackBerry 10 the fastest and best OS available. I know that I can’t wait to get my hands on the future of BlackBerry. Who’s excited?
