Top5of20091 Best Apps Of 2009

This year has truly been a year of app releases on the BlackBerry platform, for me there is about four that really caught my attention, they either made my BlackBerry more enjoyable or made be more productive.

The first app was released to the public this year was TweetGenius by BoyGenius and Beejive, now I am well aware the there are so many Twitter apps out there for BlackBerrys that I don’t even have enough fingers on my hands to count them all, but TweetGenius stood out because of the detail put into the UI that no other developers took the time to do.

Second app on my top 4 list is QuickPull, though BlackBerrys are extremely versatile and useful they still have their downsides and one being memory leaks. BlackBerrys for some reasons have an issue were they lose memory as the day goes on and everyone knows that at some point you will have to perform the infamous ”Battery Pull”, but why not let an app do that for you? This is why QuickPull is on my List because you dont have to do any of the battery pulling my self the app automatically does a simulated battery-pull on your schedule, saving you time.

TetherBerry would be the third app of 2009 and I know not much has to be said about this one, but almost everyone has the unlimited data plan on there account but you cant tether with it unless you want to pay an extra 20$ or so a month. This is were TetherBerry comes into play, Tetherberry makes your BlackBerry (and your provider) think that the app is using all the data but it’s really being rerouted to your pc or mac, you now have internet everywhere.

Who wouldn’t like to have their own DJ inside their BlackBerry? Now this isn’t possible but we have the next best thing and it’s Pandora. Pandora for the BlackBerry allows you to stream music directly to you handheld anywhere you have an internet connection, all you have to do is enter you favorite artist or genera and pandora will search through their database to find and stream to you all the music that relates to your initial search.

As the year comes to an end I start to think back on all of my favorite apps but at the same time i think what will the next year bring us, we now have new APIs to use and OpenGL support for 3D gaming so 2010 should be quite interesting. post you favorite apps of 2009, maybe we will learn about apps that we didn’t know about.
