Originally all of Canada’s carriers had announced a launch date of September 24th for the new BlackBerry Torch 9800. Over the past few weeks we saw some unnamed issues from both RIM and the carrier sides of things and there had been rumors of a delayed launch. Today is September 24th and has the Torch launched in Canada? Check out what we know after the break.

I got the Curve 3G in from Verizon last week and I have been playing with it quite a bit. My initial impression is that it is a solid device that runs very smoothly. The keyboard is great and the new rubber back feels great when using the device. Overall I am loving the Curve 3G. Now I know y’all are wanting more than that on this new CDMA Curve, so hit the break for the full review of the Curve 3G from Verizon.

We had heard that the launch date for all Canadian carriers was originally September 24th then was pushed back to October 1st. Jon gave us a photo of the 9780 last night and today we have a video walkthrough of the device. From the looks of it, the Bold 9780 is almost launch ready and the device in the video looks production quality. The Bold 9780 is the refresh of the 9700 that is set to launch sometime soon featuring 512MB of memory and a 5MP camera. Check out the video after the break.

We have seen the Bold 9780 a few times before and now we have another photo. This time the shot comes from Jon of TechnoBuffalo and brings no new information. What we know so far is that the 9780 looks exactly like the 9700 that it is replacing and that it will launch with 512MB of RAM and run BlackBerry 6. It seems that right now all the BlackBerrys on the horizon are basically just a refresh of the current model with 512MB of memory, a 5MP camera, and BlackBerry 6. We can only hope that the next iteration of BlackBerrys will be more of an evolutionary leap…

Meebo is free and works on all mobile platforms and they also have a web version and desktop versions. Meebo will work on all BlackBerry models including the Torch 9800. RIM has trademarked the term “SurfBook” with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office. We had been calling the rumored BlackBerry tablet the “BlackPad” but we never had any real solid proof of that name. With RIM trademarking SurfBook its very possible that this could be the name of the new tablet. This is not guaranteed; however, since RIM trademarks and patents many prototypes and ideas that don’t make it to market. The name SurfBook is quite interesting. Let us know what you think.
