BlackBerry9670Oxford BlackBerry 9670 Clamshell Gets Named Oxford, Previewed In Leaked RIM Slides

BGR has done it again today.  They have gotten ahold of some more training slides for another soon-to-be-released BlackBerry.  This time its the 9670 Clamshell.  The slides show the phone being called Oxford and from the looks of these slides this will be the official release information and Oxford will be the official name.  The 9670 Oxford is a clamshell-style flip phone featuring internal and external screens.  The outer resolution is 240 x 320 and the internal screen res is 360 x 400. The device runs on the CDMA network and features BlackBerry 6, Assisted GPS, a trackpad, and a 5MP camera.  There is no word on the launch date for the Oxford but we can assume it will be soon on both the Sprint and Verizon networks.  What do y’all think of the 9670?  Will you be getting one or passing on the early 2000′s form factor? Feel free to let us know your opinion in the comments.

BlackBerry 9780 Leaked In RIM Training Slides

9780slide BlackBerry 9780 Leaked In RIM Training Slides

The guys over at BGR have gotten some serious insider information on the new BlackBerry Bold 9780.  The refreshed Bold 9700, known internally as the R020, will be the Bold 9700 with a memory jump to 512MB, a 5MP camera, and BlackBerry 6.  The slides point to an October release date for the Onyx refresh.  It is a little disappointing to see RIM not updating the processor or screen resolution, but the memory, camera, and BlackBerry 6 are reason enough for an upgrade from the 9700.  Check out the slides at the link below.

facebook for blackberry splash Facebook v1.8 Now Available In App World

Earlier today we had the drama from RIM loading Facebook v1.8 onto the Beta Zone and then pulling it immediately.  Now we have an idea as to why.  RIM has launched Facebook for BlackBerry version 1.8.0.49 in BlackBerry App World.  The download may not be immediately available for everyone due to server uploading, but it is live for most users.  The only change we see so far is speed enhancement.  The app is much quicker at everything on my Berry.  Let us know if you find any additional changes to the Facebook app.

rogers blackberry torch 9800 displays arrive minus the device itself 1 Rogers Retail Locations Begin Receiving Torch 9800 Display Kiosks

Rogers is going to be releasing the Torch 9800 in the coming weeks.  We have confirmed that fact both Here and Here.  Now we are seeing BlackBerry display kiosks popping up at Rogers stores loaded with a Bold 9700 and Pearl 9100 and a spare spot open in the center.  This open spot is most likely for the Torch 9800 units that Rogers stores will be receiving in the coming weeks. There’s not much more to say at this time.  Look for these display kiosks to be showing up in Rogers stores soon and the Torch to be on them in mid-September.

Storm 3 And Curve 3 Coming To Verizon This Year?

storm3 thumb Storm 3 And Curve 3 Coming To Verizon This Year?

The guys over at PhoneArena have gotten some insider information on the Verizon roadmap for the rest of the year. They say that in October we will see the Storm 3 9570 launch on the Verizon network.  They also bring mention of the Curve 3 9330 launching in October or November with Verizon. Their statement reads as follows:

“Mid to late October is where it’s supposed to get exciting, with a possible launch of the RIM BlackBerry Storm 3 9570. Interestingly, our source mentioned that the Storm 3 will run BB OS 6, but will still feature a Sure Press touchscreen. That would be strange, given the Torch has made the move to the far more proven capacitive tech. The other surprise for BlackBerry fans will be the new Curve 3 9330.”

The thing about Storm 3 with SurePress was that we had heard RIM was going to stop with that technology and start with capacitive screens like on the Torch. The Storm 3 is likely to be the “Odin refresh” which we previously covered and have pictured above. Only time will tell and as we get close to October the rumor mill on the Storm 3 is sure to jump into high gear. The Curve 3 9330 is no surprise with the  9300 already launching on GSM networks.
