Yesterday, there was another tumor floating around online that Samsung was set to purchase RIM. The rumor came along when analyst Peter Misek stated that RIM couldn’t make BlackBerry 10 successful on their own and that he saw Samsung as the one that would purchase RIM and/or license BlackBerry 10. Samsung has commented on this latest rumor, and just like with all the ones before it, they have denied any interest in RIM. The statement was a simple one:
“Samsung Electronics has not considered the acquisition of Research In Motion or licensing BB10.”
We didn’t originally post on the rumor because, as we have stated with the appearance of each previous rumor, we know RIM’s position and that they are planning to bring BlackBerry 10 to market on their own before they consider a sale or licensure. The only good thing that comes from these baseless rumors is a stock price bump, which as we have seen with each rumor, doesn’t last too long. Maybe one day these analysts will stick to the facts and let RIM focus on BlackBerry 10.
