Well at least one new BlackBerry will be making it’s way to the US, unlike that mysterious Pearl 9100 that has yet to come. Today T-Mobile has announced via their FaceBook page the new Curve 3G. The new Curve it’s almost cookie cutter to the Curve 8520, other than it will sport more memory, have a 3G radio and be BlackBerry 6 ready. Anyone looking at getting the new curve? or are you holding out for the Torch, let us know.

9:35 pm on Aug 28, 2010 | Leave a comment

Early this week Bell put up their own “Torch Coming Soon” page on their website and now Telus has followed suit. The splash page doesn’t say much, other than it will have BlackBerry 6 ( I could have told you that), it’ll run on their speedy 3G+ network and a few other tidbits. The latest date that we have been told is Sept 16 th, lets see if this holds true. What network are you waiting to get the Torch on? Bell? Telus? Rogers or Virgin?

If you’ve placed a pre order for an inPulse smartwatch then the wait is almost over! The team over at Allerta let us know a few weeks ago that the inPulse watch has entered into alpha testing and now they have photos up on their blog. The inPulse watch is like a second screen into your BlackBerry, giving you notifications of BBM Messages, weather, RSS feed, Caller ID and a whole lot more.
Now, the first few rounds of watches have already been spoken for but that shouldn’t stop you from placing a pre-order of your own. The watch will run you $149.99 USD and you can place your pre-order at www.getinpulse.com. There’s still no official release date but we will be sure have one in hand to review and give you our unbiased opinion, that’s a guarantee. Check out one last photo after the break.

Verizon Moving Their Entire BlackBerry Selection To “End Of Life”
2:11 pm on Aug 26, 2010 | Leave a comment

What we see above is a Verizon internal spreadsheet indicating devices that will be moved to End Of Life. This means that the remaining stock of that model will be sold out and then most likely a new model will be launching to replace the EOL device. It seems as if every current BlackBerry device on Verizon will be receiving EOL between now and March of 2011. Some of the devices have already received EOL specification and are most likely selling out now. This means that there will be upgraded BlackBerrys of every model coming soon on Verizon. The EOL devices and dates are as follows:
- Curve 8830 – 2/1/2010
- Pearl Flip 8230 – 7/9/2010
- Curve2 8530 – 9/16/2010
- Storm2 9550 (OS 5.0) – 10/10/2010
- Bold 9650 (with and without camera) – 3/31/2011
So what rumored devices line up with this EOL data? For the Pearl Flip we could see the new 9670 Clamshell, possibly named Oxford, replacing it sometime soon. We have seen information on the Curve3 9330 coming to Sprint so we could possibly see the 9330 on Verizon in September. As far as the Storm2 goes, we have been hearing rumors and seeing information leak on the Storm3, so we should be seeing that launch in late October or November. And for the Bold 9650 we have no idea what may be coming. It could possibly be a Bold with a touchscreen, but thats pure speculation. Keep it here at TheBerryFix.com and we will keep you up to date with all the Verizon BlackBerry information as well as all other BlackBerry news.

The BlackBerry Developers Blog has posted that the developer documentation has been updated and there are some new developer manuals available for BlackBerry 6. These new manuals outline some features of the BlackBerry 6 WekKit browser and how to implement these new features into your applications. The new manuals are:
- Feature and Technical Overview – detailed overview of the key features of the browser on BlackBerry 6, as well as the architecture and supported content types of the new web platform.
- HTML Reference Guide – includes information about supported HTML elements (including HTML5), attributes and input type modes.
- JavaScript Reference Guide – contains technical details about the various supported JavaScript® APIs, such as Core, Events, Canvas, Geolocation, XmlHTTPRequest, etc.
- CSS Reference Guide – a robust guide that organizes the supported CSS properties (including CSS3) into logical categories such as text, tables, backgrounds, etc.
If you are a developer you can check out these new manuals to begin using some of these new tools in your apps and if you just want to check out the new features you can do that as well. These new features are exciting and getting this information into the hands of developers means we will be seeing better webkit integration in apps. Who’s excited about better web apps on their BlackBerry?

5:32 pm on Aug 25, 2010 | Leave a comment

BBLeaks has gotten the first leaked screenshot of BlackBerry Theme Builder for BlackBerry 6. Right now no themes for OS 5 are compatible with BlackBerry 6. This will hopefully be changing in the coming weeks. Rumors say that the new theme builder with BlackBerry 6 support will be coming out around DevCon and possibly even at the event. The new BlackBerry theme builder will be able to build complete themes for devices running BlackBerry 6 and we hope there are some additional improvements to the platform as well. Stay tuned as we bring you information on BlackBerry Theme Builder for BlackBerry 6 and also availability of BlackBerry 6 themes from your favorite theme developers.
