BlackBerry Bold 9000 and Curve 8900 OS 5.0.0.509 Leaked!!
10:43 pm on Feb 27, 2010 | Leave a comment

This has been quite the week for BlackBerry OS 5.0 Leaks and today we have not one but two OS leaks. If you are lucky to own the BlackBerry Bold 9000 or Curve 8900 than today is the day for you, we have OS 5.0.0.509 for everyone to give ago and we have BBLeaks to thank.
- Download OS 5.0.0.509 for your BlackBerry Bold 9000
- Download OS 5.0.0.509 for your BlackBerry Curve 8900
**WARNING, This is not an official release for BlackBerry and therefor has not been fully tested and may contain bugs. theberryfix.com cannot be held responsible for any issues that arise ether during or after installation. You are installing the leak by choice. To help the BlackBerry community please don’t forget to post your findings in the comments.

If you really enjoy the stock BlackBerry theme that your 8500 series device came with but still want things like a weather icon or to have the stock icons skinned for a more personal look, than you might need to look at the free today theme from CrackBerry.com forums user rastahl. rastahl has created a nice elagent theme that still has the feel of a BlackBerry smartphone, but it lets you have a device thats truly yours.

BBLeaks has done it again! for all the Tour users out there waiting for OS 5.0 for their devices wait no longer, OS 5.0.0.530 has been leaked to the masses. We aren’t quite sure what changes this OS will bring, but if your one of those Tour users and are downloading this OS make sure you toss some comments onto this post. Grab a cup of coffee (or juice) and let the fun begin!

Since the day that the Tour was released I always thought it had a Bold look and feel to it because when you compare the Tour to even the Curve 8900 the tour still felt like it should be a bold, so when the rumor of the Tour 2 9650 is going to be launched with the Bold branding it just felt right, weird but right. So this makes me think if this is true what Bold will it be? will it be the Bold 2? or Bold CDMA? or could it be Bold World Addition? I have no clue but all I can say is that al we can do is wait and see. This waiting game cant stop us from having fun, if you think that you know what the name will be even if its crazy and out of this world post it in the comments.

Official OS 5.0.0.497 For The BlackBerry Storm2 Released by Vodafone Australia and Fiji
7:11 pm on Feb 23, 2010 | Leave a comment

Nice little treat for Storm 2 users out there because Vodafone Australia and Fiji have released OS 5.0.0.497 for your device. Remember if you are not with Vodafone you are going to need to remove the vendor.xml file from the installation, we dont recommend doing unless your are familiar with editing the OS file.

A few weeks ago the OS files were accidentally released on the Fido BlackBerry software update site, but now the phone is available for purchase. The Curve from Fido will run you $49.99 on a gut wrenching 3yr commitment, a whopping $350.00 on a 2yr and $400.00 with no commitment. Pricing seems to be a bit high especially when other canadians carriers like Telus and Bell are offering the 8530 for as low as $24.99 on the 3yr term. So fido users are you happy that your carrier has joined 2009? drop us a comment.

If you have ever tried to tether with your BlackBerry it’s not the easiest thing to do, dealing with VPN passwords and not being able to tether with those “unlimited” data plans, can be a real pain. Well we have teamed up with Tether to bring you a contest that would solve all these problems. To enter this amazing contest all you have to do is post a comment, yep that’s it.
**Enter to win 1 of 3 copies of Tether, contest will close Saturday February 27th midnight EST and remember multiple posts will be disqualified.

Looks like RIM is trying to find a way to capitalize on E-mails, the above image is a patent that has been filed by Research In Motion allows your BlackBerry Device to catch keywords and then bring targeted advertising to your device.
“This (advertising) may be done by examining content in the message handled by a mobile device and matching portions of the message with predetermined criteria such as keywords or phrases. Upon finding matches, corresponding multimedia content is associated with a respective portion of the message content and access to the multimedia content is enabled through selection of a linking mechanism that is visually identifiable with the respective portion of the message. The message is modified to include such linking mechanisms such that upon viewing the modified message, a user may reveal the multimedia content by selecting the linking mechanism. It has also been recognized that multiple layers of multimedia content can be provided such that different types of user interaction can reveal different forms of multimedia content. “
Now hopefully this is going to be something that you can opt-in for and that the owner of that device will get paid and not have the ads forced on you so someone can make an extra buck, We will bring more info as it comes and remember that not all patents actually get devolved and used at the consumers end.
